What guitars are you touring with?

どのギターををツアーに持って行っているんですか？

TE.

『I have three guitars on the road. They are all Maton guitars made in Australia and they have a pickup system. There is a six individual piezo's under the saddle and then a microphone which is on a little arm here and I can move it around because sometimes we have a oberturn or we have a sound that my sound man says 'ah it sounds a little bit nasally. Can we move the microphone.' So I move the microphone and find a more woody sound you know. 』

私は３つギターを持って行っています。

全てオーストラリアのMatonのギターで

全てにピックアップが付いています。

６個の独立したピエゾがサドルの下に入っていて

マイクは小さなアームについていて

動かせるようになっています。

時々音響の人が籠ってるねとか言うから

もっとアコースティックな音に

なるように動かしたりしてるんだ。

『Maybe in one spot it's a little bit and I I can adjust it. And all three guitars have that. This guitar has normal guitar tuning the other one that I have which has a cutaway that one I use for drop D and drop G and then the third guitar is a slightly slimmer body and I use midium strings on the other one and I tune it down a hole step.』

アームのおかげで調整が出来るからね。

ギターは３つともそれが付いてる。

このギターはノーマルチューニングで

カッタウェイが付いているやつが

ドロップDかドロップG

最後のギターはミディアム弦を張っていて

全弦音を一つ落としてるんだ。

『So, it could fool your ear thinking I'm useing an odd tuning but it's actually just normal guitar tuning it's just down a whole tone. I don't play many things in odd tunings I'm having enough trouble with normal tuning you know. But I play in a way that it fools people. Sometimes they say I thought it was an open tuning and it was just the way I played because I use shapes like that '♪~useing guitar chord shapes~♪.' I use those kind of shapes in normal tuning but your ear thinks it's open tuning but it's not. It's a little bit of trickery.』

だからこのギターを使ってるときは

お客さんを騙せたりするよ笑

変なチューニングで演奏してるんじゃないかってね。

私は変則チューニングではあまり演奏はしないんだ。

ノーマルチューニングでも

既にたくさん問題を抱えてるからね笑

でもノーマルチューニングでも

人が変則だと思う様な演奏の仕方をしてるんだ。

時々お客さんからオープンチューニングだって

思ったて言われるけど

だたそういう風に弾いていただけで

実は普通のチューニングだったりするんだ。

それが味噌なんだ。

Why don't you use a pedal board?

どうしてペダルを使わないんでしょうか？

TE.

『My sound man plays the songs Whitney. He does all my effects. He does delays, reverbs, because the reverbs that are in these beautiful desks now we have these really high quality digital desks. They have like lexicon reverbs and that kind of thing built in. So I don't need to have a lot of equiptment. On stage I have an amplifier and a preamp and I just have a tuner. That's it. It's simple. I'm looking for one good sound that's it. Everthing else is in my playing. If I want to make it sound differant I change the sound with my hands.』

私の音響の人はすごくたくさんの

エフェクトを使用するんだ。

ディレイ、リバーブとか

そういった物の為にすごい高性能な

デジタルデスクを持っていて

リキシコンリバーブとかが構築されている。

だから私自身はたくさんの物を

必要としないんだ。

ステージにはアンプ、プリアンプ、

そしてチューナー。

それだけ。

シンプルでしょ笑

私は単純に良い音を追求していて

本当にそれだけなんだ。

もし音を変化させたかったら

自らの手の演奏で変えるよ。

What is your biggest weakness as a guitar player?

ギタープレイヤーとして一番の弱点はなんですか？

『I insist on being in tune. So tuning can drive me crazy if I can't get perfectly in tune it drives me crazy. Yeah, it will give me a headache. 』

調律に敏感てとこかな笑

チューニングは私をおかしくするんだ。

完璧にチューニングが合っていないと

頭が痛くなってくる笑

Worst thing happend on stage?

ステージ上で起きた一番の事件はなんですか？

TE.

『There have been a couple of time where all the power when out. Where there was no electricity and so what would I had to do was to un plug everything and jump down and play to the acoustic and walk around the room and yeah so that's happened I've also been playing a concert where not oly the power went out but all the lights as well so we had candles and I had a torch in my mouth and I shone the torch and I've still played the show.』

何回か全ての電気が落ちたときがあったね。

何をしたかというと全ての配線を切って

ステージから降りて、

生音で弾きながら客席を練り歩いたんだ笑

あとそういえばそういえば

電気だけじゃなくて照明も

全て落ちたときがあったね。

キャンドルをつけて

懐中電灯を咥えながらやったよ笑

What will you play tonight?

今夜は何を演奏されますか？

TE.

『I will be playing some songs from my new album it's never too late and I improvise alot so I have no list. I just go out and start playing. My biggest dicision today is what do I start with. Once I start I'm off. So I have to see do I feel like starting with a medium-paced song or do I want to start with a faster song or do I want to start with the slowest that's I have to go on this feeling.』

何かやるつもりだけど、

私は即興をよくやるからセットリストはないんだ。

ステージに上がってそのまま弾き始めるんだ。

私の今日の一番の決断は一番始めに

何を弾くか決める事かな笑

一番初めを決めてしまえばあとはノるんだ。

だから最初は少しゆっくり目の曲をやろうか、

もっと速い曲から入ろうかそれとも

一番遅い曲からやろうか

って感じで気持ちを見定めてるんだ。
