インタビューに答えているので

How is it to be the best acoustic guitar player in the world?

世界で最も優れた

アコースティックギター奏者の気分は

どの様な感じなのでしょうか？

TE.

『I don't listen to stuff like that I just try to do the best I can everyday. It's nice to get awards, it's nice to appreciated but that stuff doesn't feed you're family. What feeds your family is you doing the work. So, I live in the real world. I have to work hard and be dedicated and every day I look forward to playing a show and I travel all over the world so you know it's nice to do that people like what I do. But it's more important to do a good job.』

私はそういった事を鵜呑みにはしませんが、

毎日常に本気で取り組んでいます。

表彰されるのも嬉しいですし、

感謝されるのも大変嬉しいですが、

それだけではそれだけでは

食べて行けませんからね笑

食べて行く為には仕事をしないと笑

現実をみなければならないので必死に働いてます。

世界中旅してるしショーでの演奏などは

とても楽しみにしていますよ。

でもそれ以上に良い仕事を

常にする事を心がけています。

たくさんのギター奏者が

あなたの演奏スタイルを模倣していますね。

TE.

『Well I think it's nature's way that we all start out emulating somebody. All of us are that same. We all start by trying to be like someone that we like what they do. We are inspire by that musical whatever. It's usually not the artist that inspires us it's usually the music that inspires us.』

誰かを模範にするのは

ごく自然な事だと思います。

それに関しては私たちは皆同じで

誰かがやってる「何か」が好きで

その「何か」を出来るようになりたい

と思って始める。

そんな音楽的な「何か」に魅了されている。

そしてその「何か」は基本的には

アーティスト自身ではなくて

音楽そのものなんだ。

『I know started playind guitar in 1959 and my first inspiration was Bruce Welch from the shadows. I wanted to be a rhythm guitar player for my brother who played the melody. So he was kind of my guitar hero, my first fole model and then a little bit later I hear Chet Atkins on the radio and I thought that was a great sound. I thought it was a great style but all I knew is that that's what I had to do whatever that was, that's what I wanted to do. 』

私がギターを始めたのは1959年頃で

影響を受けたのは

シャドウズのブルースウェルシだったよ。

意外にも最初私は

リズムギターの方になりたかったんだ。

私の兄弟がメロディを弾いていたからね。

ブルースウェルシは

私のギターヒーローで最初の模範だった。

そしてその少し後にチェットアトキンスを

ラジオで聴いて凄く感銘を受けたんだ。

そのプレイスタイルはとても凄いと思った。

すぐに分かったよ。

これがやりたいんだって。

これが何か良く分からないけど

それがやりたかったんだ。

Do you think that emulating others is helpful?

誰かを模倣するのは参考になると思いますか？

TE.

『I am not a very analytical person I'm more about the feeling and the emotional. Even something is out of tune you know, like half of Jimi Hendix's records are out of tune. But we don't care because there's so much feeling and so much mojo you know. It was only when Stevie Ray Vaughan came along and played a Jimi Hendix song that the song was very much in tune. So that's just a technical observation. But that's why we still love to listen to Jimmy inspite of the fact that sometimes its out of tune we don't care. It feels so great and that's a good thing. 』

私は考察的な人ではないです。

どちらかというと感受性や感情よりです。

例えばですが、

ジミーヘンドリックスのレコードは

そのほとんどの曲において音が外れてるんだ。

でも誰もそんな事は気にしないでしょ？

だってそこには溢れる程の

感情が入っているからね。

そこに現れたのがスティーヴィーレイヴォーンで

ジミーの曲を音程合わせて弾いたんだ笑

でもそれは技術的な考察でしかなくて…

結局でも何故私たちが未だに

ジミーヘンドリクスが好きかの

説明になってるでしょ？

技術的な考察なんてあまり気にしないんだ。

すごくいい気持ちになるし、

それは凄く良い事なんだ。
